Sergio has worked in both the public and private sectors, gaining significant experience in the successful handling of complex political and social issues. At the beginning of his career, he worked for the president of Colombia in charge of highly sensitive issues. As an advisor to President Juan Manuel Santos, he participated during the negotiation process and signing of the peace agreement and, in 2016, he was responsible for coordinating the delivery of the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo. As general director of the APC (Presidential Agency for International Cooperation in Colombia), he broke records in obtaining financial resources for development based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals agenda and, with the APC, he focused on improving relations with Latin America, promoting cooperation between Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
