Carmen B. López-Portillo Romano

Carmen has three passions in life: being Mexican, a happy mother and grandmother, and a Sor Juanista. As a Mexican, she has made important contributions to promoting, disseminating and protecting the culture of Mexico, which has brought her numerous prestigious awards. As an enthusiast of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, she collaborated on the book Sor Juana and Her World: Proceedings of the International Congress co-edited by the UCSJ, FCE and UNESCO, as well as other publications, and in 2012 she published the book Óyeme con los ojos: Sor Juana for children. Additionally, she is a member of the Mexican Academy of Gastronomy and has participated in national and international conferences related to culture, history, gastronomy, gender studies, and education.
