It’s likely that the Earl of Sandwich never imagined how far his concoction would travel. The name comes from a certain town in the south of England. The Earl, an inveterate gambler, spent hours and hours at the gaming table, apparently without eating. So, he ordered his servants to bring him meat with some slices of bread. In order to keep his hands free for playing, he placed the meat between the bread, thus inventing the sandwich.

This French restaurant is known for its specialty sandwiches, including classics like croques – monsieur and madame and another 10 varieties. The bread is from their own bakery, Ficelle, which also offers delicious French pastries. Their sandwiches, dipped in béchamel sauce, will transport you to France. And so you don’t confuse a croque monsieur with a madame, here’s a fun fact: the latter is served with a fried or poached egg, which is placed on top of the sandwich, mimicking a lady’s hat seen from above.

This space emerged after a trip to Japan for Mariana Camarena. The graphic designer began to post Instagram photos of sandwiches that she prepared as a result of her experiences there. They are colorful and creative sandwiches that can be customized, with inspiration from Star Wars, Hello Kitty, SpongeBob SquarePants, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Spiderman, among others.
