La Fonda del Recuerdo
As the name suggests, La Fonda del Recuerdo (The Memory Diner) is a journey into Mexico’s past. Founded by Pedro Lara more than 60 years ago, the food here is a recollection of the incredible gastronomic richness of Veracruz. The dishes range from the traditional mole jarocho to the exquisite huasteca chiles. A repertoire of recipes prepared under the care of Chef Leobardo Lara, who heads the second generation of a family seeking to continue the flavors and tradition of its origins. The beef tongue is a must, and you shouldn’t leave without trying the famous torito, a refreshing drink typical of Veracruz made with brandy and fruit.
